What is the BYD SEAL 6 DM-i Touring?
It’s BYD’s first wagon (estate) model sold in Europe, using the brand’s “Super Hybrid” plug-in hybrid system, which BYD calls DM (Dual Mode) technology. It’s positioned as an estate version of the SEAL 6, giving customers the convenience and versatility of a wagon body style for the first time in BYD’s lineup, alongside the existing Saloon.

What powertrain does it use?
The car uses a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated Atkinson-cycle petrol engine (BYD’s “Xiaoyun” unit, producing around 97bhp) that mostly acts as a generator, paired with BYD’s own “Blade” lithium-iron-phosphate battery mounted in the floor. Combined, this Super Hybrid DM system delivers a 0-100 km/h time of 8.5 seconds.

What battery options are available?
There are two battery sizes depending on trim: a 10.1kWh unit on the Boost version and a 19.0kWh unit on the Comfort version.

What’s the electric-only range?
The smaller battery (Boost) gives a WLTP electric range of 31 miles, while the larger battery (Comfort) gives 62 miles. BYD’s own materials cite up to 100km of electric-only driving for context (note this may reflect a different test cycle).

What’s the total combined range?
BYD advertises up to 1,350km of combined range, with fuel consumption as low as 1.7L/100km.

How big is the boot?
This varies slightly by source  likely due to measurement standard (VDA vs. seats-up/down):

• BYD UK’s official figures state 500 litres with the rear seats in place (loaded to the parcel shelf), expanding to a maximum of 1,535 litres with the 40:60 split-folding rear seats down.
• BYD’s European site quotes up to 675 litres, expandable to almost 1,535 litres.

What are the exterior dimensions?
Length: 4,840mm, Width: 1,875mm (excluding mirrors), Height: 1,505mm (Touring), Wheelbase: 2,790mm.

What trim levels are available?
Two grades: Boost and Comfort. Boost comes on 17-inch wheels, while Comfort steps up to 18-inch alloys. The Boost grade includes 17-inch alloy wheels, a 3.3kW on-board charger, automatic wipers and headlights, vegan leather upholstery and steering wheel trim, and a six-speaker audio system as standard.

What colours are available?
Four options: Obsidian Black, Atlantis Blue, Polar White, and a beige called Sandstone. White is the default, and metallic paint is standard across all variants, so the other colours come at no extra cost.

Does it have a sunroof and roof rails?
Yes — it includes a panoramic sunroof and sturdy roof rails rated for gear like mountain bikes, surfboards, or rooftop cargo boxes.

What convenience features does the tailgate have?
A smart electric tailgate with one-touch control, adjustable opening height, and hands-free sensor access, plus a rear cargo area with a 12V outlet, luggage hooks, interior lighting, and quick-release seat-fold handles. A power tailgate is standard across all versions.
